Pretty bummed

If you follow this blog then you might’ve noticed that I have a thing for the nineties. So much good music came of that decade and I’m especially inspired by the riot grrrl movement. During that era so many girl groups emerged and Sleater-Kinney were one of the later and more succesful ones. Some of you might’ve seen Carrie Brownstein star in the, at times very hilarious, comedy series Portlandia – where she starred alongside Fred Armisen.

And I’m sure some of you must’ve heard of Wild Flag, her most recent project. Yup, a band, even though Carrie waved music goodbye a couple of years back. Not that I’m complaining. Mary TImony, Janet Weiss and Rebecca Cole are the other women part of the line-up and, fuck me, they are just as awesome (and legendary)!

Now, of course, I missed out on the announcement of them playing The Lexington in London (the city I’m soon moving to!) early December and haven’t got tickets. Major sadface. I’m not completely persuaded of the brilliance of their debut just yet but man, I would’ve grabbed the opportunity of seeing these kick-ass women live directly! History in the making!

So yeah, I’m pretty bummed out. Good thing that I can watch this hilarious / awesome / amazing video for the punch in your face of a song that is Romance:
